Fitness2improve is happy to announce dates for the upcoming CYQ L2 Certificate in Fitness Instruction - Exercise to Music. The course will run at Basecamp Health & Fitness Centre, Ellesmere, SY12 0EW
This qualification is ideal for anybody wishing to lead adults through exercise in a studio environment. If you already lead sessions as a Zumba, Fitsteps or Bokwa teacher but wish to upgrade your level of qualification and ability to teach other forms of class then this is perfect and is the industry standard recognition of a fully qualified exercise to music teacher, it is REPS recognised.
The theory mandatory units will be done by distant learning, you will be supported via email, phone and for those on Facebook, a group will be set up for you to communicate with me and fellow learners. You will have access to the e-learning academy with CYQ (the awarding body) and you will also get the relevant manuals, workbook and learner assessment records for the course.

Once you have purchased either in full or Installment 1 please complete and return the application form and you will be registered as a student to CYQ, once this application has successfully gone through you will gain access to your materials. Please allow up to 14 days for your resources to be ordered and sent out to you.
The Central YMCA Certificate in Fitness Instruction (ETM) is at level 2 on the Qualifications and Credit Framework. It also provides access onto The Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) at level 2 and is worth 20 REPs points.
By the end of this course you will be able to;
It is a blended learning course, so includes elements of home study, on-line e-learning and attendance to the course dates as detailed above. The course can be started at any time but attendance on workshops is essential.
Ideally you have been active in fitness and exercise to music / aerobics style classes prior to certification, you will also need a good understanding of music rhythms and beats. There is no official pre- requisite to taking on the ETM course.
Accredited Prior Learning
Candidates who already have the Level 2 Certificate in L2 Aqua, Kids or Gym would not need to complete the 4 mandatory theory units.
The aim will be to train you to a professionally competent level, to plan and instruct safe and effective exercise classes by doing the following...
Unit 1 - Anatomy and physiology for exercise - studied at home via online e-learning and assessed via a multiple choice exam*
Unit 2 - Know how to support clients who take part in exercise and physical activity - studied at home and assessed via completion of a worksheet
Unit 3 - Health, safety and welfare in a fitness environment - studied at home and assessed via completion of a worksheet
Unit 4 - Principles of exercise, fitness and health - studied at home via online e-learning and assessed via a multiple choice exam*
Unit 5 - Planning group exercise to music sessions - taught via face-to-face contact days and assessed via a client interview, PARQ, worksheet, class plan, and session plans
Unit 6 - Instructing group exercise to music sessions - taught via face-to-face contact das and assessed via a practical assessment** and self-evaluation.
