ABOUT US

Welcome to Basecamp Health & Fitness Centre. We are a family fitness facility based in Ellesmere Business Park. The club and its activities aim to meet the needs of the community, specialising in group exercise. Basecamp offers over 50 classes ranging from AntiGravity Fitness Yoga to group indoor cycling, aerobics to weights based gym classes – our GX Brand. The facility also offers a cardio gym area including treadmills, bikes, rowers and cross-trainer. The gym area boasts a selection of free weights, strong man training gear, resistance machines and Crossfit style apparatus – rings, ladders, boxes and Olympic bars. Sessions are currently available from teens to older adults. GP Referral patients can exercise with us under James’ supervision and Teens are welcome from secondary School age unaccompanied or can access the Teen Gym class. Under 11’s must be supervised by a parent or in a timetabled class for their age group.

Basecamp welcomes all ages, genders and abilities and has been described as the most friendly gym to be a part of.… ‘Shropshires best kept secret’ by one newcomer! Owners Danni and James aim to provide the best service they can whilst getting you the results you want using group exercise to motivate and gym training to allow you to do your own programme at a time that suits you.

The ethos behind our sessions is to get people moving and motivated with inclusion and adaptablity but most of all getting the result that is desired. Everybody will enter exercise for an outcome whether it be for stress relief, fatloss, escaping the house, strengthening, sports performance or for social reasons. If the sessions we provide can create that result then we have done our job!

The facility is located at Unit 13, Ellesmere business park in the heart of Shropshire, just a 10 minute drive from Oswestry, St Martins and Cockshutt and 30 minutes from Shrewsbury or Wrexham.

The Cardio Mezzanine area comprises of…

2 x Treadmills, 2 x Rowers, 1 x cross trainer, 1 x recline bike, 2 x upright bikes, 1 x Upper body bike (Crank)

Also on the this floor are 11 x matrix spin bikes for the Group Indoor Cycling classes and can be used when classes are not in progress

The Studio comprises…

7 x 10m area for classes, dumbbells and Antigravity Hammocks, Steps and Swiss balls and ballet barre.

The Beauty Box…

This is a ‘box’ within the gym facility providing beauty treatments by Natalie of Ciou Bella, other therapsists are able to hire the room for adhoc hours/half days/days on arrangement.

Treatments include:

Eyebrow wax and shape, Spray tans, Indian head massage, Swedish body massage…

Danni

Danni is passionate about helping everybody and anybody achieve their goals and reach people who might normally feel intimidated, or lacking in confidence. Danni likes to bring the best out in people and help them realise that they CAN reach their goal if they commit to it. She has studied fitness and exercise all her adult life having started doing a diploma in Sports Therapy and gaining qualification as an Aerobics & Circuit Instructor aged 18, then progressing to a Sport & Exercise Science degree and moving on to enter teaching at college level where she completed her PGCE teaching certificate whilst running CYQ qualifications to qualify others to be fitness instructors. Along the way Danni has picked up several qualifications such as her Level 3 Personal Training, Pilates, Pre & Post natal and AntiGravity Fitness Instructor and Instructor Trainer certification. Danni believes continuing professional development is essential in Health & Fitness as research & information changes so quickly, shei offers a wealth of experience and knowledge and having been through the process of fatloss herself after having 3 children she is experienced in the size loss battle and can talk from experience.

Danni says: "The fact that I have done this myself demonstrates an experience I can talk about and share, I really know where my clients are coming from and how they are feeling. The format of exercise suits busy mums like me or other hard working people with lots of commitments. We just get on with it and planning is the key to getting it all to work - life becomes so much easier!"

James

James has been at Basecamp since it opened last May and is joint owner with wife Danni. He has worked and been involved in the fitness industry for 20 years and finally got to realise a dream when Basecamp opened in 2013. He teaches an array of classes and works with members on a 1-1 basis targeting their specific needs. James is a qualified Strength and Conditioning coach, GP referral instructor and level 3 Sports Nutritionist amongst other qualifications. His passion is helping others achieve their desired goal through a balance of exercise and nutrition and improving general health, fitness and strength through varied training making it interesting. He focuses a lot on Crossfit training himself and has attended that Crossfit course. He has a future goal in attending a British Olympic Weightlifting course.

Laura

Laura has been an instructor for two years she teaches different classes like bums and tums , HiiT Step and spin. She has just completed her fitness instructor qualification and is also etm qualified. Laura will soon be doing her qualification in Antigravity Yoga to become an instructor , along with a pole fitness qualification too. Laura is passionate about group exercise and in helping others on their journeys and achieving their goals and meeting new people too , as Laura continues on her journey and continues her learning.

Annalie Gilliver

Annalie originally trained as a dancer & discovered Pilates when injured, practising the method in the body control studio at her dance college. She has been teaching group exercise for nearly 20 years & almost exclusively teaching Pilates for over 10 years. After years teaching mostly for colleges she is now a freelance teacher & assessor, in venues across North Shropshire, teaching all levels of matwork & small equipment based Pilates.

Most recently, Annalie has formulated a Pilates based class called Pilatesflow - accelerated sequences to up-tempo music especially written by Beats2improve. It is already proving a popular class & she is thrilled that Danni has allowed & encouraged her to premier this at Basecamp.

Lin Arthan

Team member Lin is an ex secondary school teacher turned instructor, she is passionate about supporting others to become the best they can be. Lin focuses on the ladies only session, Total Tone...a more gentle approach to training for fitness & fatloss and aiding those a little less confident or with a lower fitness level achieve their goals

Lin is inspirational and in her 50's she is still striving to repeat her success as an age-group competitor for Great Britain in the Triathlon World Championships this year. Lin also leads our BootcampKIDS that currently runs at Ellesmere primary school for children aged 5 and above. A wonderful woman, full of smiles and never a dull moment, she can teach spinning classes and she can sing!!

Tracy Allum

Working with Danni is Tracy, a seasoned BOOTCAMPER and qualified instructor whose enthusiasm has earned her the role of BOOTCAMP Instructor and now fully qualified and trained in many other disciplines including Group Indoor Cycling and Kettlebells. Tracy assists in leading sessions at the SHREWSBURY BOOTCAMP.
